Last Tuesday, the little blurbs of all of the graduating volleyball players were read at the senior night for volleyball. The same day basketball practices started. That is the marking of the end of the fall season. With that comes the winter sports.
College is definitely the time to be an athletic supporter. I do love and watch some professional sorts (baseball is my favorite, I am loving the world series right now) but professional sports can get expensive quickly to go watch. What is great is that our games are free to attend.
Going to a game is also very exciting. Enter and pick a seat, I recommend you wear something Cobleskill to prove your on our side. Also be warned that it gets loud. When games get close in score or close to the end and we are wining then the gymnasium explodes in cheering. Some games are better than others, Volleyball is a pretty good fall sport to watch, Basketball is quiet popular in the winter and in the spring both softball and lacrosse are good to see.
There will be cheering just for the game, on top of that cheering for individual players that someone knows. Look around at the posters made some of them are very interesting, make your own and bring it and show your pride. Just avoid noise makers, they will be taken away.
Finally there are people who will explain the game to you if you find them and ask them, so you don’t know the game I recommend going, watching, and you may learn a new interest. Good rule of thumb is cheer when people in Cobleskill attire are cheering.
If nothing else you can learn sports are not for you but at least try it, try everything. Now is the time, while things are free.2013-10-22
