With another Winter Break in my rearview mirror, it’s easy to feel daunted when facing up to a busy schedule once again. I’ve found, however, that if I take a few moments to pace myself, I can recall some of the helpful reflections that I actually had time to dwell on over vacation.
One of the most important is also the most obvious…the need to take a break. When I’m studying, I often tend to get too focused on getting the work done, and won’t give myself even five minutes to get up, stretch, or have a drink of water. However, unsurprisingly, when I do, I feel refreshed and able once again to plunge back into my work with renewed energy. For me, that’s the best way to use the healthy feelings of relaxation and ease I experienced over vacation to be even more successful in the semester ahead. Of course, it won’t be the same for everyone. Think over the most positive aspects of your own time off, and then find a way to work it into your busy schedule.
